A day in the gallery

Gain real insight into how a live show runs

Every training day follows the same rhythm as a professional production, so the habits you build are the ones employers expect.

  1. 1

    Pre-show preparation

Read the running order, check source lists and agree cues with the director before anyone goes live.

  2. 2

    Line up the sources

Check every camera, replay machine and graphics output on the multiviewer and confirm signal paths.

  3. 3

    Comms and rehearsal

Test talkback with the studio floor, run a rehearsal and fix timing issues while there is still time.

  4. 4

    Live switching

Cut to the right shot on the director’s call, mix transitions cleanly and stay one step ahead.

  5. 5

    Problem solving on air

Handle late changes, lost sources and breaking items with a calm, rehearsed recovery routine.

  6. 6

    Debrief and handover

Log faults, review the recording and hand over a clean, documented gallery to the next crew.
